I will try to now and then post some pictures that remind me of great times in my career. This is a picture that I featured in my office for more than a decade!
This picture was taken at the 2000 Joint Mathematics Meeting in Washington, D.C., featuring the speakers at two AMS-SIAM Special Sessions on “Linear Algebra and Optimization”, organized by Dianne O’Leary and Margaret Wright. Almost all the speakers are pictured here, with the exception of Haesun Park. I was only about 2.5 years out of my Ph.D. at this point, so still wet behind the ears. There were not so many women in the field, so it was really meaningful to me to be part of the session that featured so many role models!
