I’ve added my signature to the Leiden Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics, joining mathematicians around the world in support of principles for the responsible use of AI in mathematical research.
The comment I submitted with my signature:
This declaration outlines principles for responsible AI use that are essential to preserving the integrity of mathematical research. While AI offers tremendous potential, its misuse will pollute the literature and compromise the foundations on which future mathematical advancements depend. Preserving the field requires mathematicians to engage thoughtfully with this emerging technology.
I was also quoted about the declaration in Trouw, a Dutch national newspaper.
